Let’s talk about the Louis Vuitton Capucines,
I am a Chanel girl (at least I think I am) I am just getting that out there before all the die hard Chanel fans like me think I have switched sides. Don’t worry Karl you are still my number one. I will never abandon you my darling CC it’s just that Sometimes a little flirt can’t hurt.
But the thing is and I can’t believe I am saying this but this is not just a little flirt. I feel like the tides might be changing or maybe this is just a very early mid-life conflict. Who knows really all I can say is that there is a new love in my life and she is called B.B. as in my new to me LV Capucines BB bag. In the prettiest pale taupe colour with luxurious gold hardware. Now if I could design a bag this would be it. Small but mighty, luxurious but not in your face. Tough yet with a feminine top handle. Perfect for crossbody or on the shoulder with a detachable strap and two generous compartments easy to get into and perfect for those all important coffee table shots. (Hello I am sarah a prolific instagramer) I love coffee almost as much as I love bags.
I take my bag love very seriously and I don’t often talk about bags unless I am really enamoured by them and this little structured beauty has really taken me to knew places. I wouldn’t describe myself as a girlie girl (I am a girls girl, just to make that clear, always have been always will be.) I will always choose jeans over dresses. Boots over sandals, vintage leather jackets over fitted suit jackets. Yet I feel like a lady when I carry Madame Capucines. She makes me feel grown up when I strut down the street (obviously I don’t strut, I sway mostly from all the coffee) but with her on my arm I stand up straighter with a spring in my step. I even think I look better (I know, I know what you are thinking madness, how can a bag make you look better!) but she does she makes me feel more confident. And she has even made me want to wear pink! Since having her in my life I have bought two pink jumpers and a rather fabulous pink coat (If I do say so myself.) she has reignited my love for the twilly scarf. She looks fabulous all dressed up with a scarf wrapped precariously on her handle. Now I am not a fan of the whole bag charm trend they look cute on other peoples bags but it’s just not my bag (pun intended) but a scarf reminds me of the elegant ladies of the 50s like my Grandma who still wears her scarf like an armour wrapped casually around her wrist or bag such as with my Capucines.
My new love looks amazing dressed up but also dressed down, and on occasion I toss the twilly and we go out together with her worn crossbody over a denim jacket and relaxed jeans. Even my mother who doesn’t like bags loves this little soldier of a bag. ‘Sarah’ she said last Friday, ‘can I borrow that bag (pointing to my little friend sat on the kitchen counter.) ‘The one with the scarf for my bridge weekend.’ (bridge is this game involving cards, apparently it is not a fun game it’s a very serious game! A game my mother is desperately trying to master and is all she talks about.) I considered her request for all of five minutes before I ran away with said bag held tight to my chest. She laughed and left happily with a vintage clutch bag instead a few hours later.
The reason I really love little B B is because she is lux without being over the top. She is understated and glamorous and as a semi young woman I feel like this is the direction I want to go in. I certainly won’t be abandoning my casual relaxed style for pretty tea dresses but now and again a little lady like glamour is exactly what the occasion demands to jazz up my regular all black style. Louis Vuitton Capucines you have earnt a place in my bag hall of fame.
