Blue is your colour, said my grandmother many many years ago. Really, I remember saying I like pink. No! My grandma said, dark hair, fair skin and blue eyes, blue is the colour for you. When my grandmother tells you something you listen and you never forget. So blue became my colour and I have never looked back. I love all types of blue. Baby blue was the colour I wore on my nails from 14-16 years old. I wore it religiously, in my mind I was cool and aloof with my Cher from Clueless baby blue nails, (if only I had her computer organised wardrobe too then those nightmare teenage years might have been more bearable). There is also navy and electric blue, I find these shades the most flattering shades of blue for my skin tone, although I don’t often wear electric blue as it’s a little electric for my tastes. Of all my favourite variations of blue the shades that I love the most are denim blues.
Denim in all its variants, its a material I wear everyday I live in jeans mainly black jeans but in the summer out comes the summer dresses and my trusty denim jackets. I have a few various denim jackets a dark blue one I haven’t used in years but looks great with a Breton stripped top and skinny white jeans. Then I have a light denim jacket with rips on the back which I have customised with vintage brooches. This jacket is great when I haven’t made much of an effort style wise I throw it on and it just gives me that something extra. Lastly and this is my favourite the oversized boyfriend style denim jacket. It’s the softest of all my jackets and just fits perfectly over any outfit. This is the one I wear mostly over black jeans with a white silk shirt tucked in at the front it’s usually decorated with Chanel brooches. (For a great selection of Chanel brooches Luxury Promise ) But it looks great on its own thrown over a pair of relaxed joggers for a long haul flight. I don’t just love denim clothes I also love denim accessories and one of my most used bags is a denim Chanel bag and my could never live without denim O’case. My denim boy bag which I purchased in 2016 is my most used bag. It just works with everything it’s a grey blue colour denim and despite the amount of times I have used it, it still looks brand new.The denim O’case which I have had for nearly two years now was such a fabulous investment the cost per wear is so low now it’s into the pennies. A total bargain. It’s my number one traveling companion I take it everywhere it fits my passport my iPad a card case and a pair of headphones. I also use this little multitasker for evenings out on holiday it looks great with a floaty dress or even a pair of relaxed denim shorts. See what I just did there added another denim item I love. Denim shorts. I have so many I always buy them a couple of sizes too big and wear them relaxed on my hips. Lastly my denim accessory collection has recently grown to include a new makeup bag or how I will use it a mini clutch. My first piece from the new Gucci Marmont range. The current Gucci fever which has hit fashionistas worldwide has not really interested me. There is no denying that the Marmont and the Dionysus bags are beautiful but not justifiable to me. I used to get pulled into that ‘IT’ bag craze every year when a new bag was released. These days I am being more thoughtful with my money. I am trying to stick to only buying classic bags. Or bags guaranteed to hold their value. If I fall for a bag and it’s a ‘It’ bag I will give myself a year to see if I still love it. If after a year it’s still on my mind then I will re-evaluate. But this new pouch is a game changer. For a start it’s denim and the pearl detail is incredibly beautiful and the colour is the same as my favourite denim jacket. I also picked it up for a steal online pre-loved in brand new condition. I will be taking Gucci on holiday with me next month hopefully Gucci will make it back home with me and not magically end up in my sisters suitcase.
For now I am pretty content with my denim wardrobe but there is always another denim treasure Creeping into my dreams.
